Hi everyone! My name
is Joshua and I’m looking for a new forever home. My current mom has had a change in her job
that requires travel and can’t give me the time I need. I’m a lovable guy with lots of energy and I
find just about anything exciting to do.
I love to go for walks, play with other dogs (my two best friends are a
Rottweiler and a Shih Tzu so I love big dogs and small), and ride in the car,
and play fetch. I love to be around people but kids scare me
so I prefer not to be around them.
The vet says I’m very healthy and weigh around 22 lbs. I’m a beautiful chocolate color and have
learned how to use my ‘puppy dog eyes’ to get what I want. I love going to the vet and groomer (mainly
because I know I’ll get lots of attention).
I also love bath time at home and love being blow dried. I love the blow dryer so much that every
morning I make my mom blow dry my chest and head even though I’m already
dry.
At night I sleep in my doggy bed next to my mom’s bed. She gives me a chewy bone every night which I
love and then I go right to sleep. On
occasion she lets me sleep with her on the big bed and that’s the best! Now a couple words from my mom:
Joshua is a great dog with LOTS of personality. He is very puppy-like and finds excitement in
everything. It’s hard not to smile when
he’s around. Joshua does have a bit of
separation anxiety. Because of this (and
his excitement level) he should be in a home that either has another dog or a
home where a person is home most of the day.
I currently have a roommate who has a rottweiler and that has been his
best friend for the last 2 ½ years.
Joshua is in a home with two cats and gets along with them fine. He does like to chase them on occasion but
never tries to catch them.
Joshua is 100% potty trained, knows basic commands (sit,
stay, etc) and is a very quick learner.
He does not do well in a crate but does well when left alone in the
house. He has free roam of the house
when we are gone and has never done any damage.
He does scratch at the door when outside and wants in and also did
scratch at the door a little when I first got him due to the separation
anxiety. But once he is used to his
environment, he is fine.
Joshua should not be in a house with children. Joshua does bark at men (I’ve been told it is
a fear issue more than aggression) when he first meets them but he quickly
warms up. Joshua’s favorite place to be
when not playing is in a lap being petted and loved.
